The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard is, on the surface, an absurdist comedy focusing on two theatre critics, Moon and Birdboot, as they watch—and become involved with—a murder mystery melodrama with an extra serving of murder. Digging deeper, Stoppard layers fiction and reality in a playful way that leaves the audience on uneven footing. As a whole, the scene design mirrors the complex world of reality and fiction that Stoppard has created.
